These one of a kind jackets are handmade of soft, vintage Raali carpets passed down through generations as part of a woman’s dowry. These carpets have been made for centuries by Islamic women living in the villages of the Thar Desert. At one time, the handcrafting of Raali carpets was a great cottage industry in India, sustaining families and maintaining cultural traditions in the deserts of Rajasthan. Now modern industrial practices are taking the place of this ancient art. We collect these increasingly rare carpets, many more than 50 years old, and create warm, comfortable jackets for you to enjoy as a practical piece of clothing and as a connection to this beautiful culture.
